As many of you may already know, October 16-22 marked the 25th anniversary of International Infection Prevention Week.
This year's theme, "Infection Prevention is Everyone's Business", encourages everyone to do their part in help prevent the spread of infection.
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) offers these standard precautions to help prevent infection:
1) Hand hygiene
2) Use of personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, gowns, masks)
3) Safe injection practices
4) Safe handling of potentially contaminated equipment or surfaces in the patient environment
5) Respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette.
