Where Should I Go From Here?

Tuesday, August 14, 2012 by Ein Peck

Recently I came across an article on Yahoo, Flexible Degrees You Can Earn At Night. Since I'm alwaysWhere Should I Go From Here? very interested to read about education, I had to jump on this article.

In the article, the author discusses several different ways to earn a degree in your spare time. Sound familiar?

It should!

This is exactly what our programs are designed to help you do! All of our programs are online and set up so you can work when it is convenient for you; there are no required login times.

So what degrees should I go after? Well, it depends on what your interests are, of course!

Are you interested in healthcare but don't really want to become a nurse or doctor? Well there are many other options. For example, you could always get your bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration.

The College Network actually offers a great program to get your BS in Health Care Administration through Regis University. The best part? It's 100% online and self-paced!

Or maybe your interests aren't in healthcare... Maybe you've always wanted to get into the legal field but you don't plan to go to law school. The College Network offers a 100% online, self-paced program to help you get your bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Bellevue University.

Take some time and review these programs. If none of these programs appeal to you, don't worry, there are still other options!

How Do You Find Inspiration?

Friday, June 8, 2012 by Tracia Fernkas

I need inspiration. I find myself pondering over and over--"what should I write my blog about?" So, my inspiration for my blog is just that--finding inspiration.

Oftentimes adults who are pursuing their online degrees, need some inspiration to study and move forward in their programs.  Inspiration is a hard thing.  It tends to sometimes be fleeting. But, when it is with you, you find that you have an energy and focus that is hard to deny.

So, let's talk about some ways you can find inspiration.  For me, I look at blogs that I have written, articles on the internet and think about the experiences of the past week.  Maybe I can help you find some inspiration by connecting you with others who have also completed online degree programs or certificates.

First of all, meet Reme Prusynski, who was in the business world for 30 years before she decided to go back to school to become the nurse she had always wanted to be but had never thought she could.  Or Jean Brennan, who decided to become a registered nurse because of 9/11. Karen Renick had been laid off, and it was then she decided start a paralegal studies program in hopes of securing a new position.  She went on to start her own paralegal business.

Feeling inspired yet? If not, and you need more--just check out other success stories to find someone who is like you.  And when you're ready, call The College Network at 800-395-1014 and we'll help turn your inspiration into a reality.

Positive Paralegal Certificate

Tuesday, April 24, 2012 by Kevin Burton

Most of my customers, before joining their program of choice, will make sure and research The College Network. I, for one, think that is fantastic, because it shows their passion for completing the right program to suit their needs. But, don't believe everything you see out there.

The negative things you have seen across the Internet, they are not indicative of what our company is about.  We have successfully helped almost 180,000 students further their education, and unfortunately some have given up on their dreams and blamed us because of it.  The main chunk of our business is for people completing nursing degrees online where we supply them with the educational material they need to test out of their college courses.  We also partner with schools: Boston University, Purdue University, The George Washington University, Indiana State University, Regis University, and Lake Superior State University and even professional organizations to help people enroll into their professional certificate programs and/or online degree programs.

For the Paralegal Certificate program, we do the enrollment and marketing, but the learning material, classes, instructors and certificate all come from the school itself, not The College Network. You will receive a world-class education experience from Boston University online. Don't let negative comments from someone who gave up on their dream discourage you from pursuing your goals, especially when they are most likely referencing a completely different program. Here is a link to some of the success stories from people who have earned their Paralegal Certificate: click here.

Thanks again for your interest in the program, and as always, please let me know if you have any other questions or would like to enroll.

Spring Into Action

Sunday, March 25, 2012 by Kevin Burton

Spring is in the airThe weather is starting to get warmer, and trees and flowers are starting to bloom.  The winter season has come to an end, and spring time is here for 2012.  When spring is in the air, I think of March Madness, Spring Break, rain, and flowers blooming.  What comes to your mind when you hear "Spring?"

BOING!Something else I think of is getting outside and being active.  Once the weather starts to warm, increasing your activities seems to come hand-in-hand.  Physical activities, being outdoors and exercise are great, but what about your mind - learning, knowledge and your education?  Spring is a great time to also start working on furthering your education.  With the rebirth of the plants, you can reawaken your thirst for knowledge in going for one of The College Network's online distance nursing programs or online certificate programs in Lean Six Sigma, Project Management, or Paralegal studies.

"Spring" into action this season - we can help, just give us a call!

Why You Should Become a Paralegal

Tuesday, February 7, 2012 by Ein Peck
LawHave you ever wanted to get into the law field but didn't have the time or money for law school?

Law school can be very daunting. It requires a ton of dedication and is definitely not cheap.

So what am I getting at?

Well, it's not too late to get into the law field. You could become a paralegal. It's not a secret that paralegals are a necessary part of an attorney's office. Paralegals work directly under the supervision of a lawyer and assist with almost every aspect of the law field.

As an added bonus, not only do paralegals get paid well ($42,000 on average), but recent statistics have shown that there will be a 28% increase in the need for paralegals over thehttp://theparalegal.files.wordpress.com/2011/10/tbh_indispensableparalegal_lowres.jpg next 8 years.

"Sounds great, so what's the catch?"

The catch is that in most situations you can't just walk into an attorney's office with no experience or law background and become a paralegal.

So how can you get this experience/education?

By speaking with The College Network, of course! The College Network partners with Boston University to offer a 100% online, paralegal certificate program that only takes 14 weeks.

Would you like to learn more? Of course, you would!

Send me an email (mpeck@collegenetwork.com) or give me a call today at (800) 307-1006 ext. 4786 to learn more.

Time will never present itself to you, you have to make time.

Wednesday, January 4, 2012 by Tracia Fernkas
ClockI spoke with one of our customers to interview him for a success story recently.  He left me with quite a bit to think about and inspired me at the same time.  This customer is a father, a student, a manager and a planner.  He just obtained his Project Management Certificate online from Boston University Corporate Education Center.

He looked at the current needs of his job, and decided for his own personal development to obtain more education.  It isn't something that his employer is asking of him.  He thinks that it will benefit him in the future and decided to make time for it now.  The remarkable thing about this to me, is that he is also working on his MBA at the same time.

So as a working manager, MBA student with a wife and four children, he decided to further plan for his future with a PMP certification.  He told me that time will never present itself to you, you have to make your own time.  He also said that everything is possible, regardless of what it is. And you know what? He actually inspired me to get to the gym.  I always say that I don't have time...but I just really need to follow his advice and make the time.

The College Network offers working adults so many options to advance in their careers, or their personal development.  Click here to learn more about Project Management , Lean Six Sigma or Paralegal Certificates.

Best of Both Worlds

A BIG GULP, candy bar, snack potato chips and some lottery tickets.  What does this sound like to you?  They are things you get at a convenience store.  From national chains to the local "Mom and Pop" quick stop, they're everywhere.  We pay a higher price for things in these stores because of one major factor.  No; not because you can put unlimited Cherry flavor shots into your huge 74 ounce soda cup.  We do it for the convenience!  A quick zip in and zip out, everything we need compacted into a space no larger than my wife's closet!

From 30 minute oil changes to drive up restaurants, we have become a nation of convenience addicts.  I am guilty as charged! But convenience isn't always a bad thing.  In some cases it can be the difference between having and not having.

The College Network, with our partnerships and associations with some of the top universities and colleges in the nation, has designed a way for you to obtain your Associate of Science in Nursing degree, BS in Nursing degree, MS in Nursing degree, Project Management certificate, Lean Six Sigma certification, or Paralegal certificate through a combination of distance learning and comprehensive learning modules.  LPN to RN degree programs that allow you to work from any high-speed Internet connection, anytime, 24/7.  This will allow  you to learn and earn your degree in the most convenient way possible.   Our goal is to make education fit into your life.

Convenience can be a good thing.  Convenience joined with degrees from top universities is a very good thing.  Better job security, higher pay, better quality of life, satisfaction of accomplishment all in a convenient online program.  Want to know more?  It's simple and convenient; just call me 1-800-307-1006 ext 2649.

What more could you ask for?  Maybe a SUPER GULP?

I hope to hear from you!

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

Thursday, December 22, 2011 by Kevin Burton
As we approach the holiday season that brings gifts to many of us, it always reminds me of that spirit I get around this time of year.  It brings out the kid in me, and thinking of all those toys from the past takes me back to my childhood.  So, I'd like to ask you a question: What did you want to be when you grew up?

AstronautI remember watching movies like Star Wars, and growing up like a kid with my head in the clouds.  I guess you can say I was your typical boy that dreamt of being an astronaut.  Of course those days have since faded away, but I think to myself now and then, "What if...?"  After thinking about "What If?" I realized that my time and your time has not passed you by.  You can still change your life to point it in the direction that you want(ed) to go.  Instead of asking what you wanted to be when you grew up, I'm now asking what do you want to be WHEN you grow up?

NurseThe College Network can make these dreams possible.  We have higher education online from our partner universities in the form of professional certificates and degree seeking programs.  So if you wanted to be a lawyer, you can pursue the Boston University Paralegal Certificate and work your way into the legal field.  If you wanted to be an astronaut like me, consider the Project Management Certificate through Boston University Corporate Education Center or the Lean Six Sigma Certificate program through a leader in the aerospace industry, Purdue University.  If you wanted to be in the medical field, and you are an LPN/LVN or Paramedic now, we can help you become an RN and move up the ladder in your career.

So, if you think you're a grown up, but still have childhood dreams, feel free to contact us today and we'll be more than happy to help in assisting you toward your goals.

A Single Step

Monday, November 7, 2011 by Ein Peck
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”  -Lao Tse

Wow.

Have you ever read something so true, but yet so simple?Long Journey

Over the last couple of years, I've began to hear a lot of "what ifs", "could have beens", "if onlys", and "should haves".

Sure, it's nice to daydream about what could have been, but why can't you still pursue your dreams?

Just because you have a family/job/mortgage/busy life, does not mean you still can't follow your original plan of obtaining your nursing degree online, Bachelor's in Fire Science or Paralegal Certificate. It may be difficult, but even if you can only devote a half hour at a time, you are still making progress on your journey.

So call The College Network today to take your first step in your journey to fulfill your dreams, (800) 395-1014.

German Law Student Earns Paralegal Certificate with The College Network's Help

Friday, October 28, 2011 by TCN Success
Because of the convenience of online programs, The College Network is available to help students all across the globe. Matthias Mayer was studying law at a university in Germany and decided he wanted to know more about American law.

Matthias wanted to earn his paralegal certificate to aid his quest to learn more about American law, however, he could not find a program that met his needs in Germany. That's when Matthias came across The College Network and discovered the program he was looking for - an online Certificate in Paralegal Studies program from Boston University.

“I said to myself, I would try to study continually and then I would succeed. I was very happy that I passed the Paralegal Certificate Program. I invested a lot of hours in studying and I was very relieved,” Matthias says.

Woman Goes from Unemployed to Thriving Business Owner

Monday, October 24, 2011 by TCN Success
Although Karen Renick had experience working in a law firm as a paralegal, the fact that she did not have a professional certificate to support her skills hurt her career. She was not earning the pay she deserved and when it came time for her company to make necessary cuts due to the economy, Karen was laid off.

I was only laid off a week before I decided I wanted to go back to school and get my certificate in paralegal studies. I did a Google search for paralegal study courses and, as you can imagine, I got a list a mile long, so I began researching my different opportunities and The College Network was only one of many I checked into before making a final decision,” Karen says.

She decided The College Network was the best choice to pursue her online paralegal certificate. “It was not as hard as I had anticipated. Being able to work online 24/7 made it easier for me to finish in a timely manner and still fulfill my other duties without interruption,” Karen explains. “It was self-explanatory in most instances, and for the ones I needed assistance on, the academic support was better than I had hoped.”

Earning a paralegal certificate forever changed Karen's life in a positive way. To learn more about her journey with The College Network and how the certificate changed her life, read more of Karen's story here.

Earn Your Degree from Anywhere

Friday, October 7, 2011 by Melissa Gardiner
globalLast week I had the pleasure of writing a success story about a customer who lives in Canada and used the help of The College Network to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Writing this woman's story reminded me of a gentleman I also spoke with a few months back who was enrolled in The College Network's Paralegal Studies Certificate program. He was from Germany.

The woman who lives in Canada was a nurse global in the United States when she decided to immigrate to Canada-her husband is Canadian and owns a business there. Because of the accessibility of our online nursing programs she was able to begin her degree in the U.S. and continue completing it once she moved to Canada.

The man from Germany was studying law and wanted to accompany his degree with paralegal knowledge. There were no programs that offered what he wanted where he lives in Germany, but Boston University's online Paralegal Certificate program was perfect for his needs, and The College Network was able to help.

That's the beauty of online education-it's global. Anyone can earn a degree from anywhere they have access to the Internet. Nowadays, finding an Internet connection is pretty easy. Coffee shops, restaurants, gas stations, retail stores and many others are offering free wi-fi. Also, most libraries have computer labs which are set up for Internet connection.

When I was in college, I went to a school that was four hours from my home. So, every summer I would have to pack up all of my things and move back home for three months. I wanted to continue taking classes during summer vacation (so I could stay on track to graduate in four years) so I had to enroll, each summer, in the local college near my home. I'm glad I took the summer classes, but let me tell you it was a big hassle!

I would have loved to have the opportunity to take my classes online, on my own time, from anywhere I chose to. Online education really does make life more simplified. Whether you are living here in the U.S., are global, or are thinking of immigrating to another country, The College Network is here to help you achieve your education goals. Call us today: 1-800-395-1014.

"To change your life: Start immediately, do it flamboyantly, no exceptions."

Tuesday, September 27, 2011 by Tracia Fernkas
Goals

I was stopped in my tracks this morning by the following quote:  “To change your life:  Start immediately, do it flamboyantly, no exceptions.” Talk about instant inspiration!

I am close to a birthday, and for me, every year at this time I reflect upon the year that has passed.  I don’t really make New Year’s resolutions—more like birthday resolutions.  What have I learned in the past year?  Yes, I am getting older, but am I also getting better—growing as a person and pushing myself towards my life’s goals.

In looking back, I experienced a tough year.  One that was filled with change—some good and some bad, new experiences and one that reinforced the fact that I am the only person that can change my life.  I make the decision to move forward, only me.

Take the above mentioned quote to heart, if it resonates with you as it did with me.  Remember that you, certainly, are the only person that is going to commit to study, to be prepared for your exams, to move through your online program.

The College Network cannot push you to move forward to earn your degree.  We can offer you a means to get there, with support and the experience that comes from helping thousands of people earn their Associate of Science in Nursing degree, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Lean Six Sigma Certification or Paralegal Certification.  Change your life—and remember—no exceptions!

Paralegal Forecast: Sunny

Saturday, September 3, 2011 by Kevin Burton
Sunny DaysIn this economy, the job outlook in many fields is often uncertain and volatile.  In weather terms, this can mean some fields are in for a cold front, windy days, pop-up storms, blizzards, heat waves, and other unpredictable weather occurrences.  But for those looking into the paralegal or legal assistant field there is good news: your forecast is sunny skies!

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics website (click here), through 2018 there is a projected growth of 28% within the paralegal and legal assistant field.  That's a projection of over 74,000 new jobs between 2008-2018!

The College Network can help you break into the paralegal field through the Online Paralegal Studies Program from Boston University.  This certificate program is designed to give you the immediate knowledge and credential you need to walk into any paralegal/legal assistant role and do the work right away.  Throw in the fact that it is completely online, asynchronous with no mandatory login times, and done over a 14 week period - and it has never been more convenient for the working adult to pursue a career enhancement or career change!

If you have any questions or would like to enroll in the Boston University Paralegal Program, feel free to contact me:  Kevin Burton, Program Advisor, 1-800-307-1006 Ext. 4734, kburton@collegenetwork.com

TCN Perspectives: Burt Rosenthal

Thursday, August 25, 2011 by Charles Fox

Burt RosenthalThis post is the first in what will be an occasional, ongoing series entitled TCN Perspectives that will show our readers a few of the names, faces and stories that comprise The College Network.  After all, our people are our best asset and what truly gives our company its strength, and TCN Perspectives will showcase the people who comprise The College Network and give them a chance to tell us a bit about who they are and what they do.  First up is Burt Rosenthal, from the in house Program Advisor team.

"I was in the radio business in Detroit prior to my family moving to Indiana. I grew up in the Detroit area and became a 'Motor City' guy very quickly. I’m still a huge fan of the Red Wings and the Tigers and follow them religiously. I graduated from Wayne State University with an education/teaching degree and got into the radio business shortly afterward.

I was married in 1981 and celebrated 30 years with my wife, Ann, on the 23rd of August. We have two grown sons, Eric and Mike, 27 and 25, who are both working and very productive people in the business world. We have a wonderful 6-year-old granddaughter named McKenna who is a pure delight in our lives.

I started in Seminar Sales and for 3 and half years, traveled all over the country conducting seminars for nursing students. It was an interesting job, helping a wealth of people. This company offers a lot of educational options, including Certificates in Paralegal Studies, Project Management, Lean Six Sigma Certificate programs with Purdue University and Nursing programs from associates degrees up to master’s programs online all over the country.  These programs are designed to allow working adults the opportunity to further their education while still working full time and caring for their families. These programs are fully accredited and available almost everywhere in the country with 24 hour, 7 day a week access. The convenience factor is essential in making this a wonderful way to enhance a person’s career and choices in life, along with job security and personal satisfaction.

I enjoy helping people, and I truly enjoy the opportunity to be involved with one of the finest quality companies I’ve had the pleasure to work for in my lifetime. The people here are also a wonderful reason I come to work each day. I enjoy interacting with everyone here and truly enjoy being a part of The College Network.

I recall a seminar I conducted, I believe somewhere in Pennsylvania, where an older LPN came up to me after she had enrolled and asked if she could hug me. I said okay, but why, and she said she was not sure what direction she was going in and she received a postcard, reminding her that this seminar was tonight. She said it was like a message from above, and that she was directed to do this with our company.  As you might imagine, it was a very touching moment, and I told her how much I appreciated her and congratulated her once again for moving forward with her education.

As a member of the house team, I pride myself on being a professional consultant for The College Network, and I believe I’m once again blessed to work with the best group of professional sales consultants I’ve ever been associated with in my extensive career.

In closing, we’re happy to be in Indy, it’s a great place to raise a family and earn a living. The people are very gracious and I’ve been fortunate enough to forge a few good friendships and had a pretty happy life. I love the Colts and I’m looking forward to a championship season this year, culminating with the Colts winning the Superbowl in their hometown!!!"

Are you the next Erin Brockovich?

Thursday, August 11, 2011 by Tracia Fernkas
Law bookWe talk a lot about the growing healthcare industry.  Nurses are and will continue to be in high demand.  Did you also know that demand for paralegals is growing?  By the year 2018, the projected growth in this field will be 28%. (Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics)

Now, here is something else to consider.  A paralegal is paid approximately 18% more than a legal secretary, depending on where your job market is located. (Source: Salary.com)
The College Network™ partners with Boston University’s Center for Professional Education to offer an Online Paralegal Studies certificate program.  During the 14-week program, you will explore real-life cases, and delve into research, reasoning, technology, corporate law, litigation, real estate and probate.  This is a comprehensive course that will provide you with the tools to be a proficient paralegal.
Those are the cold, hard facts that I can give you on why you should move forward and get your paralegal certificate.  But when I think of a paralegal—I think of Erin Brockovich and how she persevered to change people’s lives with her work.  It sounds like a noble and fulfilling career.
"If you follow your heart, if you listen to your gut, and if you extend your hand to help another, not for any agenda, but for the sake of humanity, you are going to find the truth."

Love What You Do

Tuesday, August 9, 2011 by Kevin Burton
Lake Powell, UtahI'm one of the lucky ones.  I recently returned from my vacation in the Western United States, and I have to admit, I loved every minute of it.  But as one often does, I had a few revelations in the mountains and deserts of America's Southwest.  One of these was, "did I really have McDonald's breakfast twice today?" (oh the joys of going from Eastern to Pacific time). But one that really struck me was how much I love what I do here at The College Network as a Program Advisor.

Everyone has heard the saying: do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life.  Not surprisingly, I completely agree with that statement.  Whether you are a nurse, project manager, or work in any type of field, do you love what you do?

Love what you doHere at The College Network, we can provide you the education you need to be the best at what you love to do.  Whether you are already in that field or not, we offer higher education online through certificate and degree programs to suit your field.  Whether you want to bridge from your LPN/LVN to your RN Nursing license, obtain your Lean Six Sigma or PMP Certification, or enhance your skills or transition into the Paralegal field, we have programs that can help you.

Do you love what you do?  Either way, feel free to contact me and share your story.  I'm more than happy to assist you in furthering your education and career to achieve that level of love.

Safe and Warm

Monday, January 10, 2011 by Stanley Dixon
We are now moving through the winter months, and thanks to modern society, life does not stop because of snow.

Online education has a great benefit this time of year. I was lucky to live in a major city during college, so I could get to school. But once there, parking was a major issue. Many students would not be able to attend class because of their rural location.

With an online education, weather may be an asset. Imagine being snowbound... isn't this the best time to curl up with your laptop? This sounds like a great time to clamp down and really concentrate on some school work.

The College Network is a great resource for people wanting to advance their education outside of a traditional college. Offerings include: Project Management, Private Investigation, Lean Six Sigma Certifications, Paralegal Certificates, not to mention all of the inexpensive nursing degrees from leading universities.

snow storm

Don't let this be you, out in the cold. Get an online education through The College Network and get the satisfaction of staying safe and warm in your pajamas while preparing to earn your next degree or certificate.

Just Do It

Thursday, December 23, 2010 by Matthew Pinkston
I am sure most of us are familiar with the slogan "Just Do It®" used by Nike®.  But what exactly do they mean?  Of course Nike is closely related to the sporting world, however, I think their slogan and the message it portrays can be beneficial to everyone.

The first thing I think of when I hear "Just Do It®" is an athlete working hard; preparing to make him or herself better at their chosen sport.  Running that extra mile; shooting those extra foul shots; doing whatever it takes to get better; no excuses, "just do it®"!

How great could you be if you used this mentality in your life?

I speak to prospective students everyday and the two biggest obstacles keeping them from making the commitment and just doing it are:

              TIME and MONEY

Time  Money

Now both are legitimate excuses, but both are just that... excuses!  Time and money for the most part will always be hard to come by unless you hit the lottery or get a big inheritance.  All of us have busy lives, commitments, family, work, etc...   That is why The College Network and our partner universities' convenient online programs offer the best way for adults to go back to school.  The formats for all of the programs are asynchronous, which means that you can log in and work on the courses when you want. You only have to have the motivation to JUST DO IT!

Now the money issues are a bit different.  We do offer convenient payment schedules that will fit most budgets; however I, as well as anybody, know that times are tough and money is tight.  It is that rock and hard place analogy, where you want and need that Project Management Certificate, or want to start a new career as a Paralegal, but you just don't have the funds.  I also know that you can never get ahead by doing nothing.

So I ask anyone who is in this situation to take a look at your spending.  Do go out to eat a lot?  Starbucks?  I bet we can all find some luxury in our life that we can live without.  Now this does not need to be a permanent change, but cut back on these luxuries long enough to get those extra funds you need! Get that Nursing Degree and RN license or that Lean Six Sigma Certification which will lead to a better paying job and more security in the workplace.  Then you can eat out everyday and even buy your own Starbucks!

Get your better tomorrow started today and JUST DO IT!
